✨ Psychedelic Incubator 💫
Greetings, fellow devotees of the Muses ~
It is my honor and pleasure to invite you to a unique offering I’ve been nurturing for the past couple of years, with a special collaborator I met through a retreat I participated in (which she led) in 2022, Paulina Alanis.
It is called the Psychedelic Incubator—and it is a program and retreat, taking place in Colorado from August 9–11, 2024, designed specifically for writers, artists, and creatives in any aspect of life who want to explore the potential of psychedelics as part of their creative process.
Psychedelics, combined with meditation and various other consciousness-enhancing practices, have been part of my life and creative process since I was a teenager—30 years ago. As with many people, at first my relationship with these “medicines” was purely experimental and usually recreational, though powerful and influential nonetheless. I also went through many years (in my 30s, mainly) when I was focused on other things (starting a family, making a living, etc.) and they weren’t part of my life.
However, just over 10 years ago, I was given the opportunity to participate in a Yagé (ayahuasca) ceremony, which profoundly altered my life-path and gave me a creative vision that I am living out to this day. Since then, I have continued to explore the altered states that psychedelics enable (especially with psilocybin “magic” mushrooms)—though in a much more careful, intentional, and deliberate way, compared to when I was younger.
My 2022 ibogaine retreat with Paulina provided another revelation, as much for the intense experience as for how much I appreciated Paulina’s remarkable skill in crafting the ceremony and the whole retreat setting. I proposed to her that we work on something together, since I already had the germ of an idea for how a similar kind of retreat could be valuable for fellow creatives.
As it happens, Paulina was also writing a book about psychedelics, based on her own experiences, academic research, and years of working as a therapist and guide—so it became a perfect match. By that time, I had also had a lot of experience working with other writers and artists on bringing forth their projects, especially books, but also everything we’ve published since 2016 through Metapsychosis.
So finally the timing became right, with the legalization of natural medicines in Colorado and all the impressive work being done, studying the use of psychedelics for mental health. Yet, while most offerings in this space focus on the therapeutic or spiritual dimensions of these substances, I have long felt that once one has done sufficient healing (though there is always more to be done) and discovered something about spirituality (though the learning is endless), the next logical step is to DO something with your consciousness, which is a CREATIVE act.
So, that’s what the Psychedelic Incubator is about. This program, which includes individual and group preparation and integration sessions and practices, in conjunction with the retreat, is specifically for people who are ready to catalyze their creativity, develop a creative idea, or work through blockages in their creative process. It is for ANYBODY who feels the creative impulse within them and wants to develop it to the fullest.
While the world is teeming with turmoil and trauma, which is ultimately within us as well, the question for retreat participants will be: How can we become a creative response?
If this question, and the offering, resonates with you, I invite you to check out the website we’ve put together with all the information:
We also have a series of free informational sessions scheduled for June 6, June 27, and July 11, for anyone who would like to meet us, ask questions, and learn more.
There are 10 spots available in the program, and 4 are already taken (sorry, I got busy and couldn’t get this email out right after our site launched!), so do check it out soon if you’re interested.
On a final note, I am especially happy about this program, not only because I think it’s going to be a lot of fun and deeply meaningful for everyone who takes part, but also because it is a way of supporting all the work we’re doing through our co-op, journal, and publishing imprint.
You don’t have to be involved with any of our projects to join the retreat, but it could be one way of finding your way in.
Creatively yours,
Marco V Morelli
