Imagination Needs You!
Dear fellow writers and readers,
As we enter dark days in the world’s development, there is a need to raise the level of our imaginative input, and impact. In dystopian times, it is easy to fall back into a feeling of impotence, but what is required is the opposite. Writers, and artists of all stripes, must step forward and intensify all the forms that imagination can take. It is only through such efforts that we can find a way out of the impasse.
Metapsychosis in engaged in this effort. We are particularly proud of the abundant response we received to our call for submissions of Acousmatic music (now closed), under the curatorship of Michael Eisenberg. We received over 60 submissions of outstanding quality from all over the world, and will be publishing these over the course of the coming year. Indeed, we are creating a new “music” section of Metapsychosis to support this effort and are working on new ways to promote these initiatives.
In another of the wide-ranging interviews undertaken by Chase Griffin, this time with our own intrepid founder Marco V Morelli and called The Next Frontier: Marco V Morelli on Cosmos Co-op, Ontology, and the Infinite Quest, together Chase and Marco explore a range of subjects across philosophy and poetics as well as the beginnings of the efforts that led to Cosmos Co-op. Interestingly, their exchange arrives at an awareness of the importance of the subtle and the imaginal body, another celebration of the importance of the imagination in what we are striving to achieve.
Metapsychosis has also had a greatly increased influx of submissions in our more traditional areas of focus—essays, short stories, poetry, video and visual art. A few days ago we published a video segment by Brian Parcival which is a kind of playful fantasy exploring the first days of Genesis, a tour de force of the imagination. Experience it here: Lost Mariners: Music by The Soft Hearted Scientists—Video and Lost Musings by Bryan Parcival.
In the coming weeks we will be posting submissions that came in on our Crossing Thresholds call for submissions (which is now closed).
Consider becoming a patron member of Metapsychosis. Among our plans for members this year, a revival of our Writers’ Circle with author Mary Thaler. These are warm occasions for sharing our ongoing efforts. And as always, we welcome your comments, questions, and feedback. These help stimulate our authors and artists and enhance our sense of community. And celebrate the importance of imagination in our lives!
