Interstates of Consciousness, Integral Yoga, and the Grateful Dead

The Collaboration Journal team is delighted to share our 12th special feature, published in the Summer 2024 edition of the Journal, which is a narrative by Lynda Lester called “Interstates of Consciousness, Integral Yoga, and the Grateful Dead.”

Lynda explains that Grateful Dead music is known for transporting listeners to a heightened reality often called the X-factor, magic, alchemy, hyperspace, or the Zone. Here she documents how these unique states of consciousness—in her case experienced through deep listening, without drugs—might be identified in Integral Yoga terms. She also recommends a list of Grateful Dead songs for further exploration.
