Light-Force Meditations and the Art of Contemplative Listening

Dear friends,

I’ve just spent the early morning re-reading and taking in the artwork that makes up our first feature this week, “Illuminating Consciousness: The Digital Art of Margaret Phanes”—which I followed by listening to the Acousmatic tracks that make up our second feature, “Where Nothing Becomes Everything,” with music by Paul Lastovica and Jiajing Zhao.

Each of these features explores and expands while deepening and intensifying consciousness through different, though interestingly interconnected media—digital light and digital sound. Both use technology not merely as convenience but to widen the fields of art and spiritual practice.

And I feel that these offerings, from the artists, through Metapsychosis, to you—the reader, listener, viewer, contemplator, meditator—are an invitation and opportunity to explore new possibilities and edges in your own artistry and practice.

With over 50 pieces published so far this year (see our archive)—spanning poetry, essays, fiction, visual art, music, reviews—as well as these weekly newsletters and monthly live events, both online and in person, it’s been an incredibly productive year for our journal and creative co-op. Which is why we’ll be taking the next month or so off for rest, retreat, re-imagination, and integration. While our fall calendar is already filling up, now is the time for a few deep breaths, as well as to appreciate everything we’ve co-created and how far we’ve come.

For my part, over the coming weeks, I will be putting the finishing touches on my poetry book, I AM THE SINGULARITY, which I hope to release through Untimely Books in the near future.

It’s been quite the journey… writing, editing, publishing, and growing this community… and I still have the feeling that we’re in the early stages of something that is destined to evolve.
