Resisting Fascism, Becoming Animal, Making Art
Dear friends,
Before I introduce this week’s articles, allow me to share a couple of exciting pieces of news.
First, our creative community and cooperative organization, COSMOS, held its coming out party and benefit concert last Saturday evening—and it was a success on multiple levels.
We had a wonderful turnout, great vibes, and fantastic performances all the way through. The video is now edited, and you can watch it here:
In addition to making an artistic statement and growing our community, the event also marked the beginning of our first crowdfunding campaign, through which we seek to raise $25,000 to grow Cosmos Co-op into a sustainable cooperative enterprise.
Please help us reach our goal by donating here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/cosmos-co-op/
You’ll find some great perks for different levels of support, and more importantly, you’ll get to be part of this adventure in consciousness, creativity, and cooperation with us. THANK YOU!!
And now, here’s what’s new on Metapsychosis:
Chase Griffin interviews ex-pat American novelist Rick Harsch in “Save Not Only the Whale but the Mackerel,” where they discuss anti-fascism, Gaza, living outside the US, and what writers and artists can and can’t do about the world situation. Harsch is also an indie publisher, like we are, and his perspective on the vocation is particularly interesting.
We also welcome Sol Race-Malone to Metapsychosis with an essay titled “The Vessel-Animal” that explores what we’ve lost in the process of domesticating both animals and ourselves through the lens of what Race-Malone (a veterinary assistant, among other things) calls the “Pet Industrial Complex.”
Race-Malone’s piece is generously accompanied by artwork contributed by Steven Cline. It continues our Creature Consciousness series—indeed, you might notice, the pieces last week, this week, and next all have something to do with pets.
As always, we invite your comments, and welcome your support.
