Taking the View of the Other
Dear Metapsychonauts,
Many of us live out our lives in a single, comfortable groove. Why not? It’s certainly safer and easier. But real creativity involves being able to make the leap into ways of thinking and experiencing that are very different from our own. This week on Metapsychosis, you can learn about one such way to shake ourselves out of our usual mode of consciousness in Chase Griffin’s interview of Dr. Erik Davis, in which they discuss his new book about LSD blotter, a strange medium that has been an unexplored realm to many (including this editor).
If you are a writer, artist or other creator who feels ready for some advanced transmigration of consciousness that even transcends species, our latest Call for Submissions might be for you. Poet and editor Lauren Rhiannon Lockhart is looking for work that explores animal consciousness. Find out the details on our website, and make sure to get your work in by the 31 August.
There’s always a lot going on at Metapsychosis and its parent organization, Cosmos Co-op as you can see from our calendar. And if you find that our work hereis helping to shake you up with new perspectives and fire your creativity, consider becoming a member so that you can support what we do.
Yours in the strangeness of creature-kind,
Mary Thaler
Associate Editor, Metapsychosis journal
