VIDEO: Acousmatic Crossings Live Diffusion from November 1st, 2025
For the series third live diffusion, we feature the music of Ali Balighi and Amanda Stuart.
Ali Balighi’s piece, Electropoem No. 11 is the eleventh piece of a 13 part Acousmatic sound cycle. As explained in the video, the first three parts are just raw code but, the composer has collected parts 4-13 together in one album length release available on his bandcamp page.
The cycle is a highly charged, electronic work that evokes different emotions and images with each listen. Going back to it this time, a shimmering curtain of silver light came to mind. Of course, like all Acousmatic music—each individual listener will have their own experience.
On Amanda Stuarts Magnetosphere, the unseen natural energy of our atmosphere is brought into stark relief with this sonic portrait. The piece, is subtle (until it’s not) and highly detailed. What at first seems like a very minimal pallet of sounds—closer listens reveal a myriad of detail and activity that, unbeknownst to us, is occuring in the sky above us. More of Amanda’s work can be checked out on her website.
Both artists were graciously on hand to present and talk about their respective work and, there was also some fantastic engagement from the audience who I can’t thank enough for taking the dive into the Acousmatic music space.
Our next live diffusion will be forthcoming so, keep an eye on your mailbox for the details.
Till then…
Mike
