VIDEO: Acousmatic Crossings Live Diffusion from September 20th, 2025
For the series second live diffusion, we feature the music of Matt Gender and Valentin Sismann.
Gender’s piece—Scintillation was a 16 minute melange of ideas that had the overall effect of a page turning novel. Pensive moments of quiet stillness mutate into skyscraper sized blocks of sonic madness culminating into an end of days dust storm of cyclonic finality.
Taking it down a few thousand degrees, Sismann’s Morphame was an Acousmatic love song. The space between the sounds is everything on this work and the extraction of big sounds into a single “morpheme”, a moment of unity with the beloved was a fascinating study of how, even the smallest grain of aural life matter can transform itself into a personal, subjective meaning.
Both artists were graciously on hand to talk about their work and introduce their diffused piece.
Our third live diffusion will take place on November 1st, 2025 featuring the artists Ali Balighi and Amanda Stuart. Watch your mailbox for the details.
Thanks, once again for all that participated in this event. It was great seeing everyone there. Till next time…
Mike
