Writing from the Future
This week in Metapsychosis:
We continue featuring entries to our call from submissions a few months ago on “Writing from the Future,” which went like this:
“Imagine you have survived the ecological crisis of the next hundred years, and you are writing as if you were of that era about the state of things. Or you are a poet writing about the worlds humans occupy thousands of years from now, after we have started to inhabit distant planets.”
Among others, Björn Goldstein and Arkapravo Bhaumik responded to the call, with their poems respectively titled, “Ancient Heroes of the Electric Group Consciousness” and “Moondust,” adding to what editor Geoffreyjen Edwards calls our “chronofluid collection box.” We hope you enjoy and find these pieces as thought-provoking as we have.
If you are a poet, writer, artist, musician, filmmaker, or any other kind of creative, or would like to pass this along, you may also be interested in our current call for submissions on “Creature Consciousness.”
We are inviting submissions which “could be from the perspective of a creature, a communication between a human and a non-human creature, a person in their animal nature, an animal in their personhood, or any observations and musings on creature consciousness.”
The deadline for that is August 31.
In other news, poet, essayist, artist, and Metapsychosis editor Brian George has just been featured on the Brown Posey Press Show (podcast), on the BookSpeak Network.
Evoking the themes of his book, Masks of Origin: Regression in the Service of Omnipotence, “George discusses the pushing of boundaries, including time and space, and how our experiences, though perhaps negative or even traumatic, may well open doors to discovery.”
Finally, we’re proud to share news that the esteemed Montreal Review of Books has reviewed Metapsychosis editor Mary Thaler’s epic poem Ulfhildr in their summer issue. Pick up the print edition, if you happen to be in the area, or download the free PDF version and scroll to page 21. (Also, here is a direct link to the review.)
